New York Data Privacy Rights
Customer account data is managed at the highest levels of security. Basic, anonymous load-profiling information is shared only between the local utility, Good Energy, and relevant bidding energy suppliers. Once a supplier is selected, necessary account information is shared using secure web data transfer with said supplier to allow for the enrollment process to proceed. This information includes account holder names, service location addresses, accounts numbers and rate classes.
This information is necessary for program enrollment and will exclude those who do not wish to participate. Information is held by Good Energy for up to 60 days. Data used by Good Energy is destroyed thereafter while the selected supplier will retain the information in order to operate the program. Account holders may contact their local utility in order to put a “utility block” on their account such that their account information is never shared for the purposes of this program. In this way, these account holders will never be enrolled in the program unless they proactively elect to participate by contacting the supplier or Good Energy directly.
Account holders may also opt out of the program at any time, without penalty, whereupon their specific account information will be removed permanently.
Our company’s Data Protection Plan is provided for additional policy information and procedures.
